'blow' a bird

(the bird is the word!)

We're currently waiting for Dudley council to finish renovations on the glass blowing studio. They’re taking a good while and we’re really not sure when they’ll be completed.

You could come and make something in fused glass instead though (if you're not sure what you can make, have a look on Pinterest or google image search 'fused glass' and see what you think! It is fun I promise!)

Join this workshop and leave having made your very own lead crystal glass birdie! In a small group of 6 people, you will be shown how to correctly and safely handle hot glass. You will learn the techniques for creating a bird and craft a lasting memory in glass via a creative process that has been passed down since the time of the Ancient Phoenicians.

With expert tuition from glass artist Charlotte Hughes Martin, you will make your very own bird to take home, and with lots of colours available, you could make any bird you like be it a Tweetie Pie, Rockin' Robin or even your own bluebird of Happiness?!

Maybe invite some friends or family to join you and make a nice day of it? The class is made even more enjoyable simply by the setting inside the wonderful Red House Glass Cone. You could have lunch sitting by the canal or try our on site cafe. Take a walk around the beautiful historic building and visit the numerous other craft studios on site.

All materials and tools will be provided. No previous knowledge required. Please ensure you wear fully closed shoes and practical clothing.

Your pieces will need to fired over night, but will be available for collection a few days after the course. Or they can be posted for a small additional postage fee
